We’re thrilled to introduce you to Emily Algeo, PRLT’s new Development Coordinator!
Emily began working at the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust in 2026. Emily has a background in both political research and farming. She previously worked at Broadturn Farm, a Scarborough Land Trust property, growing flowers and learning what it means to use the land with future generations in mind. Emily has a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College in western New York, where she majored in Politics with a concentration in International Relations. She grew up in Raymond, ME, and now lives in Portland. Emily’s life has been shaped by access to natural spaces and she is deeply committed to protecting the land and preserving that experience for generations to come.
Get to know Emily with us:
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the Upper Presumpscot watershed in Raymond, Maine! I spent much of my free time as a kid traipsing through the woods and fields and swimming in the region’s many lakes and ponds. I also spent many hours as a small but enthusiastic volunteer with Loon Echo Land Trust.
What’s your favorite PRLT property?
Mill Brook Preserve or Windham Community Forest – I love that both of these properties offer so many little sections to explore!
What’s your favorite way to get outside?
Anything that involves a natural body of water – kayaking, jumping in the ocean, walking along a river, or observing wildlife in the intertidal zone.
How else do you spend your time outside of work?
I love to run in the woods, bike around town, ski, skate, knit, make pottery, and eat good food with friends.
Quick! What’s your favorite…
Mountain – Pleasant Mountain
River – The Presumpscot! (The New Meadows River, though not actually a river, also holds a special place in my heart.)
Craft project – These days it’s pottery – I love having a place to combine whimsy with function. I recently made a butter dish decorated with garlic scapes!
Podcast – NPR’s Throughline. There’s always more to the story and I always want to hear it.
Poet – Mary Oliver. She really captured what it is to be a human in the natural world.
Travel destination – I really loved visiting Italy for the history, the Mediterranean climate, and, most of all, the pasta and the pizza.
Coffee shop – Little Tandem
Musician – Remi Wolf for a little fun!
In one sentence, why PRLT?
PRLT is increasing access to nature and encouraging everyone to think like a steward!
How do we reach you?
