Funds for Our Future

Gorham – Gray – Standish – Westbrook – Windham

Over the past 40 years, PRLT has worked alongside property owners, small businesses, and town officials to protect the farmland, forest corridors, and river banks that give our communities their character. That work has been meaningful. And it is far from finished.

Right now, there are landowners in Gorham, Gray, Standish, Westbrook, and Windham who are ready to make permanent conservation decisions. There are hundreds of acres along the Presumpscot River headwaters, through working forests, and across open fields that could be protected in the next few years if the resources are there to make it happen. If they aren’t conserved now, then as the towns grow the chances of permanent protection dwindle.

But PRLT has a path forward: the Funds for Our Future.

These funds, set up for each of our five towns—Gorham, Gray, Standish, Westbrook, and Windham—are PRLT's commitment to catalyzing the next wave of conservation in Greater Portland. Not maintenance, not incrementalism, the next real wave: the big projects that require relationship-building, legal and stewardship costs, and dedicated staff capacity to make real.

Now is the window. Landowner interest is real. Development pressure is real. The opportunity to act is real, but only if we have the capacity. Your contribution will jumpstart our ability to meet this moment.

A gift to a Fund for Our Future is a direct investment in what comes next for your town. Whether you give $10, $100, or $10,000, you are saying: the rural character at the edge of a growing region is worth fighting for, right now, while there's still time.

I hope you'll join us and your neighbors in protecting our lands and waters for future generations.
