Geology of the Presumpscot River Basin

  • PRLT Office 90 Bridge Street, Unit 2153 Westbrook, Maine United States (map)

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Irwin Novak on the geology of the Presumpscot River basin! Discover how our region was shaped by retreating glaciers, and how processes of weathering and erosion began to shape the landscape we see today. The presentation will take place at the PRLT Office in the Dana Warp Mill and will be one hour long, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.

Dr. Novak is a retired geologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern Maine where he taught classes for over 40 years on oceanography, geomorphology, and glacial geology. His research focused on the geology of Maine, landslides, and the geology of Greece as viewed from space using satellite imagery.
