Best Nature Walks in the Presumpscot River Watershed

  • Little River Preserve in Gorham consists of over 28 acres of wooded wildlife area bordering the Little River. Almost a mile of trails allow a scenic walk through the woods and along the river.

  • Mill Brook Preserve South in Westbrook is our newest Preserve and trail. The loop trail descends into scenic wetlands and gullies (watch for abundant ferns coming up soon), crosses streams, and includes a spur trail to a beautiful spot on Mill Brook. Aside from these crossings, the trail is generally flat and easy to maneuver as it is on a raised ridge above the dramatic water-carved topography of the area.

  • Black Brook Preserve in Windham includes a network of trails that pass through forest, fields, and wetlands. You’ll experience several different forest types from white pine uplands to dark and myseterious hemlock groves and hardwood swaths that will be filled with light until the leaves emerge.
