Continuing to Build Capacity to Protect More Land in the Presumpscot River Watershed

In June 2007, the PRLT received a $10,000 Capacity Building Support Program grant award from the Maine Coast Protection Initiative through the Land Trust Alliance. The goal of this grant award was to build long-term strength and effectiveness in conserving and stewarding critical coastal lands by establishing staff to oversee the land trust’s efforts. The Board was thrilled to receive this competitive grant and glad to be working more closely with the Land Trust Alliance. Since then, the PRLT has received additional support toward this end, including grants from the Nine Wicket Foundation, the Aldermere Foundation, and the Fore River Foundation. We also received many individual contributions from PRLT members to support this effort. These contributions have helped the PRLT to hire its first-ever staff management position. Tania Neuschafer, former Development Coordinator for the PRLT, is now the PRLT’s part-time Manager. In order to continue to build our ability to have staff, the PRLT is undergoing a broad range fundraising plan. This plan includes an earmarked generous stock gift from one of our members in the amount of $10,209. We will be announcing our further plans for this fund and need for additional support, shortly. In the meantime, we thank you all for helping us strengthen our organization’s efforts. And we welcome your continued investment in our growth.
